Sandbank's New Play Park is coming.

SCDT KIDS AT PLAY

It is finally here!

Sandbank Community Development Trust are proud to announce our new play park is being installed. The playpark should be ready by late October. A lot of hard work has gone into the play park and at times it felt we would never see it. In testament to the Dedication and hard work of the trust and the support from local people and business we have done it!

Following public consultation and a lot of debate with kids from the village we have picked who will install the equipment and what type of equipment we will have. There is a range of equipment being installed to cater for various age groups and skill sets.

Wine Evening

Wine Tasting Evening with Master Sommelier.

Monday 2 November 2010.

Wine Evening 29yh October 2010

On Friday the 29th October  the Development Trust held a wine tasting evening in Sandbank Village Hall. The evening was a great success and many thanks go to all who attended and all who help make it such as success. The Trust was host to over 100 guests who all enjoyed the wines and cheeses (Based on how much they consumed!).

Master Sommelier Nigel Wilkinson presented wines from various countries on the evening and a big thank you goes out to him for his time and effort.

The Trust had photographic displays of village events and Trust projects to help raise awareness and promote the work we do through community projects such as the Annual Gala, Broxwood Bird hide, Sandbank Ball court, Looking after Lazaretto point along with the various projects we are working on at the moment on behalf of the Sandbank Community.

Wine Evenng 29th Oct 2010

A raffle and auction also took place and with ticket sales included we raised over a £1000 pounds for community projects. Again, more thanks to all who bought tickets and participated in the raffle and auction and had a great night!

Well done to all the raffle winners – enjoy your prizes!

Special Thanks goes to:

On behalf of Sandbank Community Development Trust thank you Everyone!

New Picnic Table for Lazzaretto Point.

17th October 2010.

The Trust have replaced one of the Picnic tables at the point with a new plastic one. The new bench is "green" in colour and from an environmental perspective as it is made from 100% recycled plastic. The new bench is maintenance free and will last a lot longer than the timber one it replaced.

The trust will be replacing the other two benches over the next two years provided we have the funds in place. Although, as usual we will be doing our best to raise funds!

Lazaretto Point is the main feature of our village and as such we like to keep it clean, litter free and maintained as well as possible. On Saturday 16th October a few of us from the trust carried out a litter pick, Cut the grass at the picnic area and removed the weeds from around the monument.

Over the next few weeks we will be starting work to restore the chain and anchor back to its original condition.

If you can spare some time to help with scraping, sanding and painting please get in touch.

Community Futures Go Green

Sandbank goes Green Project.

A company called ‘Changeworks’ have been recruited to carry out doorstep surveys for every household within Sandbank, and the operatives are easily recognized because of their green uniforms. I have received phone calls from residents saying that they have been approached by other companies operating within our area at the same time. This is unfortunately true as other companies get to hear about what we are trying to achieve and jump on the bandwagon. Changeworks employees will show you their credentials when asked for and can be recognised because of their green uniforms. Some of these other companies are working on a commission basis so they get paid for how much they sell, whilst Changeworks are giving impartial advice. These surveys are intended to point householders in the right direction to insulate their homes better thus saving themselves money and the planet at the same time. Depending on individual circumstances there are grants available for this and it may even be free to some people, again this will be pointed out during the genuine survey.

Save Electricity, Save Money, Save the Environment.

Minim Electricity Meter

Sandbank Community Development Trust have a library of energy monitors that are available to anyone wishing to save themselves money on electric bills. The meters are simple to install and show how much energy you are using, the cost of the energy and the amount of carbon being produced. If you wish you can view the manual for the "minim" electricity meter here. Please remember electricity is dangerous. Please read and follow the instructions carefully. If in doubt contact John Massey our Community Hero for advice or assistance.

As part of borrowing the Electricity Monitor you will be asked to complete this form. The form will allow us to measure the impact the Community Future Goes Green project has had.

For more information please phone 701030 or email eco@sandbankcdt.org.uk for further details.
